Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has made a big decision on Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund ahead of Sunday’s meeting against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
United looking for first Premier League win
When United plays Marco Silva’s team, they will definitely want to score their first three points.
Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Amorim and his team last weekend marked the start of the 2025–26 Premier League season.
Even though United put on a strong show and had multiple scoring opportunities, they ultimately lost. Nonetheless, there were many good things to learn, and the team’s confidence is still high.
The matchday squad that played Arsenal at Old Trafford did not include Onana or Hojlund. Amorim decided not to use Onana even though he was healthy, instead choosing Altay Bayindir to start in goal.
Amorim subsequently explained that he hadn’t dropped Onana outright, stating that Bayindir’s superior match sharpness and the necessity of preserving healthy competition for spots were the reasons behind his decision.
However, Hojlund was completely left out, and it appears that the Dane’s time at United is over. According to reports, Hojlund was informed that it would be preferable for him to depart since he would find it difficult to play a major role in the first squad when Benjamin Sesko joined.
It is believed that Serie A powerhouses are getting closer to signing Hojlund on loan.
Hojlund has been left behind, but it has now been confirmed that Onana has traveled to London for the match against Fulham.
United’s travelling squad confirmed
The Manchester Evening News claims that Onana is a candidate to take Bayindir’s place in goal.
Sesko, who came off the bench against Arsenal, is expected to make his Red Devils debut. Another player who is most likely to make a comeback to the starting lineup is Amad.
In addition to Hojlund, Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui are also noteworthy absences. Due to their injuries, both defenders are currently recuperating.
Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, Matthijs de Ligt, Diogo Dalot, Tyler Fredricson, Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven, Patrick Dorgu, Harry Maguire, Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro, Mason Mount, Amad, Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, Joshua Zirkzee, and Joshua Zirkzee are the confirmed United traveling team.
