As they try to fix Ruben Amorim’s four-man bomb squad problem, Manchester United won’t be held hostage. Tyrell Malacia, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Jadon Sancho are the four exiled players that United is looking to buy. All four have been barred from first-team training sessions by Amorim as long as the transfer window is open.
United is turning down offers for players who together cost more than £170 million in transfer fees, despite interest in the entire group. “Obviously, it’s not ideal to have senior players training away from the first-team group,” an Old Trafford source disclosed.
“However, things stay the same until we receive offers that match our valuations. Some clubs may believe that we will accept any price for doing business, but that is untrue.
“If they are still United players at the end of the transfer window, the manager has stated that he will try to add any or all of them back to the team. These kinds of situations are usually handled late in the day.
The club is losing over £500,000 a week in salary due to United’s exiled quintet.
When the Spanish powerhouses agreed to a £30 million buyout option next summer and took on the duty of paying the England star’s whole salary, Marcus Rashford was allowed to join Barcelona on loan for the season.
In order to make the transfer easier, Rashford later agreed to a 25% cut in his £325,000 weekly salary.
Sancho, who was on loan at Chelsea for the previous season, has drawn interest from Roma, but his £250,000 weekly wage is still an issue. After his successful loan stint, Real Betis is eager to sign Antony, but they are unable to pay the £30 million asking price or his £130,000 weekly salary.
Chelsea is considering Garnacho, but the London team feels that United’s £50 million asking price is too much.
In the meantime, clubs in Germany, Italy, and Holland are taking notice of Malacia.
