Man Utd finally ‘advancing’ on flop’s sale with new bid ‘imminent’

According to a report, Antony’s next move is speeding up, meaning Manchester United may soon be rid of him.

In the summer of 2022, Antony joined Manchester United in a huge £82 million move, making him their second-most expensive signing ever. Then, in order to bring Antony back to his former Ajax star, manager Erik ten Hag persuaded United to pay far more than his market value.

But with just 12 goals and five assists in 96 games for United in all competitions, the right winger hasn’t even come close to living up to that price tag.

When Ruben Amorim took Ten Hag’s position in November, Antony’s situation only got worse. Due to Amorim’s preference for wing-backs and No. 10s over wingers, Antony was loaned to Real Betis in January.

With nine goals and five assists in 26 games, the Brazilian flourished away from Old Trafford and helped Betis advance to the Europa Conference League final.

Betis and teams in other nations, including Brazil, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, showed fresh interest in Antony’s services as a result of his recent improvement in form.

Although United has a limited amount of time to let go of Antony, his next move is finally gathering steam.

Betis is in a strong position to re-sign the forward, according to Centre Devils.

In an attempt to reach a deal, the La Liga team is “advancing in talks” with United.

We anticipate a fresh offer “imminently.” It is known by Betis that Antony would prefer to rejoin the team and had “agreed personal terms” with them.

In an attempt to return to Spain, Antony has “rejected numerous Saudi proposals” and is “only pushing” for a move to Betis.

Man Utd could get £30-40m back for Antony

The exact amount Betis is willing to spend for the 25-year-old is still unknown.

Though Betis is more likely to offer between £30 and £40 million, United has previously quoted ultra-wealthy Saudi teams €50 million (£43 million) for Antony.

Given how difficult it is for fellow winger Jadon Sancho to move on, this development is fantastic news for United.

Sancho’s rejection of Roma has compelled the Italian team to start negotiations for a Chelsea player.

Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, and Marcus Rashford were the other players in United’s infamous “bomb squad” at the beginning of the summer.

Rashford has already signed a loan agreement with Barcelona that includes a €30 million (£26 million) buyout option, and Chelsea wants to sign Garnacho before the September 1 deadline.
