TNT Sports Forced to Issue On-Air Apology After Error During Leeds vs Man Utd

TNT Sports have issued an on-air apology after an error during their coverage of the Premier League match between Leeds and Manchester United.

Daniel Farke’s side are hosting United at Elland Road on the back of a six-match league unbeaten run.

United, meanwhile, suffered a 1-1 draw at home to bottom side Wolves on Tuesday to place further pressure on manager Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese boss selected six defensive players for the Leeds clash, with Patrick Dorgu lining up as part of an attacking three and Luke Shaw playing at left wing-back.

There was little to report in the first 15 minutes of the contest, with both sides trying to establish a foothold.

But there was then a major technical fault on TNT Sports’ coverage, as their audio was cut from the broadcast.

It is unclear as to what caused the fault or what was to blame, with an on-air apology reading: “We apologise for the loss of sound and hope to correct the fault shortly.”

Once the audio was restored, lead commentator Darren Fletcher said: “It looks like we’re back – apologies for that.

“Can’t wait for the avalanche of positivity on social media! Sorry to spoil your day.”

After coverage resumed, Leeds came closest to scoring in the first half when striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin hit the post.

The 28-year-old had scored seven goals in his last seven matches before the United clash to renew hopes of a call-up to England’s World Cup squad.

Calvert-Lewin has suffered from a string of injury problems in recent years, but has bounced back at Elland Road after joining Leeds on a free transfer in the summer.

Whites boss Daniel Farke was asked about Calvert-Lewin’s World Cup chances last month, to which he replied: “Not a topic for me, that is a question for Thomas [Tuchel]. If he wants to ask me, I will give him my honest opinion and what I think about Dominic.

“You all know how much I trust him and how much I value him. He has done it before, 11 caps for England, and his goal record is good.

“For him, it is just important he stays fit, confident and in a good rhythm, and it will take care of itself.”
