Former Scotland midfielder Darren Fletcher has been placed in interim charge of Manchester United after the Old Trafford club sacked manager Ruben Amorim.
Man Utd announced on Monday morning that Amorim and his coaching staff had been relieved of their duties in the wake of Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Leeds United. It brings to an end a 14-month tenure that has been largely underwhelming for the 40-year-old Portuguese, who joined from Sporting CP in November 2024 to replace Erik ten Hag. He leaves the Red Devils sixth in the league – 17 points behind leaders Arsenal after 20 matches.
