Man United in ‘talks today’ with La Liga club, player wants Old Trafford exit

Before the transfer window closes, Manchester United is making every effort to get rid of Antony.

After two and a half dismal seasons at Manchester United after joining from Ajax in 2022, Antony is considered surplus to requirements.

His luck finally turned around when he spent the second half of the previous season on loan at Real Betis.

Journalist Mike McGrath claims that United and Real Betis “are in talks today” about an agreement that would allow Antony to return to Spain this season.

The 25-year-old has “hope of an agreement.”

Despite receiving several offers from Saudi Pro League teams, Antony is adamant on moving to Spain.

Antony looks set to leave Old Trafford

Under manager Ruben Amorim, Antony is a member of the five-man “bomb squad,” which has no future.

Antony just played 135 minutes in the Premier League the previous season when Betis approached him.

He scored nine goals and provided five assists in 26 games for the Spanish team, enjoying a spectacular comeback in form.

If given a full season at Betis, the Brazilian might easily surpass the 15-goal mark because he felt at home in La Liga.

Once, Antony had the steadfast support of former manager Erik ten Hag, but the winger was unable to live up to the trust.

Amorim thinks Antony would do better somewhere else since he is not physically fit to compete in the English top division.

Given their financial constraints, it is unlikely that Betis will reach the asking price, even if United now values him at almost £40 million.

A loan agreement with a purchase obligation seems to be the most likely option.

INEOS must make sure they prevail in this bargaining war.

A successful deal will demonstrate to other teams that they are not to be taken lightly.
