Manchester United have compiled a transfer shortlist of three further players to target alongside Carlos Baleba, it has been reported.
Earlier this week, United reportedly began negotiations with the agents of Brighton midfielder Baleba and are getting ready to make a bid for the Cameroon international.
The Seagulls are unwilling to sell, and it’s unclear if United will accept the asking price that Fabian Hurzeler’s team has set, which is said to be over £120 million.
The £115 million sale of Moises Caicedo to Chelsea in 2023 can serve as a model for Brighton.
Before the transfer window ends on September 1, United manager Ruben Amorim is ‘pushing’ the club’s leadership to buy Baleba as his top goal, according to The Independent.
Furthermore, it is said that the club has identified three other possible targets and is drafting a payment plan to submit an offer.
The three players on United’s shortlist are Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace, Ederson of Atalanta, and Morten Hjulmand of Sporting.
Wharton, who is valued at almost £100 million and Palace qualified for European football this season, would surely be the hardest player to sign.
Marc Guehi, his England international teammate and club captain, may leave the Eagles as Liverpool is reportedly interested in signing the center back.
Guehi’s contract is set to expire next summer, making him a free agent regardless, but he is content to stay at Palace this summer and will speak with Liverpool if an offer is accepted, according to Sky Sports.
The future of Eagles midfielder Eberechi Eze, who is coveted by both Arsenal and Spurs, has also been the subject of rumors.
Ederson, a vital member of Atalanta in Serie A, has been linked to United for a number of transfer windows.
The 26-year-old earned his Brazil debut last season after joining Atalanta in 2022.
Hjulmand, on the other hand, was employed by Amorim at Sporting Lisbon; but, according to The Independent, there are questions regarding whether he has the physical attributes needed to compete in the Premier League.
