What Jose Mourinho has told ‘confidants’ about Man Utd return as new favourite emerges to replace Ruben Amorim

Jose Mourinho has already spoken to ‘confidants’ about a Manchester United return amid a new favourite emerging to replace Ruben Amorim as manager.

Since replacing Erik ten Hag in December, Amorim has been in charge of United.

However, United lost to Tottenham in the Europa League final and fell to 15th place in the Premier League standings.

The team has made significant investments in attacking reinforcements this summer, but the goalkeeping dilemma has not yet been resolved.

While the team is unable to let go of “bomb squad” like Tyrell Malacia, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Jadon Sancho, United supporters have also demanded the signing of a new center midfield player.

Amorim’s team has lost 1-0 to Arsenal and drawn 1-1 with Fulham in their first two Premier League games, earning them just one point.

Compared to last season, the Red Devils were more proactive in both games and had a greater attacking threat, but Amorim is gradually feeling the pressure, as is typical of United managers.

If a change were to be made at Old Trafford, Gareth Southgate, the former manager of England, and Oliver Glasner of Crystal Palace are the joint favorites to take over, according to the most recent odds.

Following him at 5/1 are former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick, who was fired by Championship team Middlesbrough in the summer, USMNT manager Mauricio Pochettino, and Kieran McKenna of Ipswich.

It’s interesting to note that Mourinho is not one of the candidates predicted to take over as United’s manager, but at the end of the last campaign, Betfair ranked him as the favorite in case Amorim had left.

According to The Sun, Nottingham Forest is considering him in the event that his countryman Nuno Espirito Santo departs the team.

In March, the Manchester Evening News revealed that Mourinho, who is still in charge of Fenerbahce, a team in the Turkish Super Lig, has not quite ruled out a comeback to Old Trafford.

According to reports, he informed confidants that he would “walk” back to Manchester and would be eager to rejoin the team he oversaw from 2016 to 2018.

In a recent interview, he publicly supported Amorim’s success at Old Trafford, saying: “I think we all agree he is a coach with great potential and character.”

“With stability, I think he has in hands an incredible potential to do a great job at Manchester United.”

Despite winning the Champions League and other domestic league and cup trophies during his career, Mourinho referred to leading United to second place in the Premier League in 2017–18 as one of his “best achievements.”

“You’ll think this guy is insane if I tell you that finishing second with Manchester United in the Premier League was one of my greatest professional achievements. He claimed that finishing in second place was one of his greatest accomplishments, despite having won 25 titles, he told beIN Sports.

“People are unaware of what goes on behind the scenes, which is why I keep stating this. And occasionally, we examine things from a different angle from this side of the cameras.”
