Journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claims that Galatasaray’s last offer for Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens had outbid Manchester United’s offer.
Lammens has been the Red Devils’ primary target for the past week as they look to add a new goalkeeper before the transfer window ends.
Although Lammens has officially approved the deal, United is still discussing the conditions.
Recently, it has brought to light that they are debating the structure of a package valued at €20 million (£17 million).
In the meantime, according to Sabuncuoglu, a Galatasaray official visited Belgium today and made a last-ditch bid for the Belgian goalie.
United’s offer for the 23-year-old has been “surpassed” by their “latest offer.”
Man Utd need to finalise deal with Antwerp for Lammens
During the current transfer window, the Red Devils have already spent almost £200 million on new players. By contrast, the club has not received any incoming funds from long-term transfer agreements.
Except for loan exits and sell-on clauses, United has not yet generated any income. There is still hope that Tyrell Malacia, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Alejandro Garnacho will contribute money with late exits.
Before the deadline, United might look to acquire a defensive midfielder in addition to a goalie.
Given that Lammens might not be a sure starter, the hierarchy most likely does not want to overpay for him. Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana might be the Belgian’s rivals instead.
As quickly as possible, the club should try to finalize a deal for Lammens, in our opinion. Given Galatasaray’s most recent offer, Antwerp may be able to wait for a better deal to approve his sale.
United must expedite the negotiations. It can become costly to drag out a contract until the last minute, especially if other elite European teams start vying for the former Club Brugge player.
