In an attempt to bypass Manchester United’s cash demands for Alejandro Garnacho, Chelsea have offered one of their players in exchange.
Tyrique George, who manager Enzo Maresca praised as a “fantastic” talent, was used in a suggested trade by the Blues in an attempt to finalize Garnacho’s arrival before Monday’s deadline, according to the Daily Mail.
The offer was turned down by United, who made it clear that they wanted £50 million to approve the sale of their academy graduate, whose sale would bring in pure profit and a much-needed boost to PSR.
How much do United want for Alejandro Garnacho?
United is waiting for Chelsea to meet their valuation, which is a pitiful £25 million for the Argentine. Garnacho will probably be in the reserves for the first half of the campaign if it isn’t, waiting for the window to reopen in January.
United must only remain steadfast in light of the other winger transfers that have occurred this summer.
Garnacho, who is only 21 years old, has made 144 senior games for the 20-time winners, contributing to 22 goals and 26 assists. He has won the Copa America with world champions Argentina, for whom he has earned eight caps, and the League Cup and FA Cup, the latter of which he directly contributed to by scoring in the final.
Garnacho’s exit highlights a wider issue arising at Old Trafford
In a perfect world, Garnacho might have stayed at Old Trafford for a longer period of time and things might not have turned out the way they have.
The fact that Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo could follow players like Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford out the door worries the M16 supporters because United has prided itself on nurturing young talent and transforming them into reliable first-team players throughout the team’s illustrious history.
